THE UNFEATHERED BIRD

An American Robin (Turdus migratorius) skeleton perched on a branch with an earthworm in its beak, a diving Red-throated Loon (Gavia stel- lata), a Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus) peering into a mirror at its reflection, and many more drawings bring these bones to life in a way that is both surprising and beautiful. In the introduction to the book, the author, Dr. van Grouw states, ''I've attempted to make The Unfeathered Bird a convergence of art and science, accessibility and erudition, old and new - without compromise and without apology.
