Zusammenfassung:Reading based on interaction of physical and mental process. It not a momentary action based on right solving the right to say a letter. Reading is a skill that can be learned and improved. School is the first institution to impart reading skills and habits. Therefore the activities carried out in schools to improve reading skills. "The 100 Essential Books" project is one of those activities implemented by the Ministry of Education. The aim of this project is that the students must read books of Turkish and world literature before they graduation from schools. As a continuation of the project in schools in various provinces and 100 Essential Books reading competitions are organized. In this study examines the 100 Essential Books reading competition. Examined that how is this contests and questions of competition with document analysis method and findings were interpreted according to the principles of measurement and evaluation in Turkish education and reading edu cation. Emphasized that the test questions should not be reading contests, should be open-ended questions and and recommendations presented. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
