Dear Editor I want to thank Nancy Sharp (Feb 2008, "The Continuing Vision for ACNP") for her thoughtful historical overview of NP organizational history, and applaud her forward-minded conclusion, "The NP community needs to deliberate about how it will communicate the policy corrections needed in a very proactive and positive manner that will ultimately benefit both consumers and patients." Neither organized physician stakeholders, nor ignorance, nor sexism, nor convenient care corporations, nor politicians, nor perverse state practice acts, nor beaurocrats, nor lack of data, nor insurance carriers, nor poorly crafted legislation, nor any power other than ourselves can keep us from realizing our potential.
