Increased Intestinal Permeability in Asymptomatic Children with Food Allergy

Children with gastrointestinal disease had the most abnormal gut barrier function. Since enhanced gastrointestinal permeability is thought to reflect mucosal damage induced by local hypersensitivity reaction to foods, these results may indicate ongoing sub-clinical exposure to food antigens.
