COLABORAÇÃO INTERNACIONAL E VISIBILIDADE CIENTÍFICA DE PAÍSES EM DESENVOLVIMENTO:o caso da pesquisa na área de medicina veterinária em Moçambique

Surveying about the visibility of scientific research in the area of veterinary medicine produced by Mozambiques´s.authors. The authors' visibility is understood as having works accessible internationally and to have received citations. Using as main source the Institute of Scientific Information´s (ISI) databases the study identified citations received by Mozambique´s authors, also identified journals that published the articles and citators journals and articles of those works. The covered period initially for the study includes the whole database of ISI to the year of 2003, but just the period between 1993 and 2002 was examined to notice the received citations. The results of the surveing were analyzed having as backdrop the map of the world scientific system, originally proposed by Schott. The results showed that works of Mozambique´s authors received a significant number of citations, 63 for 19 works. But it was also verified that all the works were written in collaboration with foreign researchers, what turns difficult to affirm that the visibility gotten by the identified works it has just belonged current to Mozambique´s authors The study points out subjects related to scientific policies for developing countries considering that all the forms of partnerships with developed countries seem to contribute to increase the authors' of those countries visibility. On the other hand, there is the adaptation problem of the themes to the local needs and of access to the published texts, not always accessible in the local authors' countries of origin.
