MENTAL HEALTH HIGHLIGHTS

This article discusses the provision of mental health services. The mental health amendments of 1967 extends existing programs of grants for construction and staffing of community mental health centers. Mental retardation amendments of 1967 initiates staffing grants for community mental retardation facilities and extends grants for construction of mental retardation facilities. Child and Parent Centers will provide health and welfare services, counseling for parents in prenatal and infant care and instruction in household management, accident prevention and nutrition. State Community Mental Health Services Acts states with laws providing for state financial aid to localities for community mental health services.
