Zusammenfassung: | Reviews the book, All our children: The American family under pressure by Kenneth Keniston (see record 1978-31596-000). This is a powerful book-powerful because it looks at a range of influences on the family and child that have certainly been considered before but seldom in such an integrated fashion. The book is also powerful in that it tackles a set of central myths that have inhibited the adequate comprehension of the factors influencing family and child development. This book will, no doubt, arouse much controversy, but all who are interested in improving the development of families and children should be familiar with its arguments. The work of Dr. Keniston and his colleagues should constitute a significant part of an urgent dialogue that will serve to make our children as important as we have always claimed they are.
