Zusammenfassung:This study examined the validity of the Mosaic Test. The test material consists of a box of mosaic pieces which are standardized so that each shape is available in every color. The pieces are squares, right angled triangles, diamonds, equilateral and scalene triangles. The colors are red, blue, green, yellow, black and white. The subject is presented with the box of mosaics, and is shown the relation between the pieces. All mosaic patterns were classified into Abstract, Concrete or Representational and Incoherent. Abstract patterns can be further subdivided into compact, scattered and intermediate types. The conclusions about the meaning of the various types of pattern were based on data gained from over 1000 subjects. The two groups of matching experiments do indicate the validity of the test as a diagnostic instrument, and the objectivity of interpretation made from the patterns alone under experimental conditions.
