Zusammenfassung: | This paper argues for teaching the economic way of thinking in American history courses. It shows how economic forces are vital in understanding historical events. The paper also introduces, and releases to other researchers, a new assessment instrument designed to test economic thinking skills. This new instrument is used in a pre- and post-test design to measure the effectiveness of using a supplemental text on economics in American history, with modestly positive results. |
