Zusammenfassung:The structure of the ascus apex in Hypoxylon serpens (Pers. ex Fr.) Fr., Poronia punctata (L. ex Fr.) Fr., Rosellinia aquila (FR.) de Not., and R. mammiformis (Pers. ex Fr.) Ces. and de Not. is described. It is suggested that the apical apparatus has a much simpler construction than early light microscopy indicated. Micrographs show that the only differences are variations of a basic construction common to all.
