This analysis will further explain how these concepts have influenced German and Spanish lexicography and the role they play for these disciplines with regard to their current comprehension. It will be shown that German dictionaries of foreign words have always been more important and numerous Spanish dictionaries of foreign words. The aim of this contribution is to offer a contrastive perspective between German and Spanish dictionaries. The items to be dealt with will be taken from German and Spanish corpora: COSMAS II and CREA.
