SYNTHESIS OF (+)-IPOMEAMARONE

(+)-Ipomeamarone (1), a furanosesquiterpene isolated from the mold-damaged sweet potato Ipomea batatas as one of the phytoalexins, was synthesized starting from (+)-lactic acid as a chiral source.
