Zusammenfassung: | A sample solution containing SO42- is adjusted pH to 910 with dil. NH4OH. In this solntion EDTA-Ba is added in a slight excess. The solution is heated on a water bath, and dil. HCl is added dropwise to form a precipitate of BaSO4. The filtrate is titrated with a standard solution of BaCl2 using Phthalein Complexson indicator or with a standard solution of MgCl2 using Eriochrome Black T indicator for an indirect estimation of SO42-. The presence of K+ and Na+ does not interfere. About 10 mg SO42- can be determined with an accuracy of -0.1 mg error. In this procedure it is necessary to adjust the acidity to pH 2.53 with HCl in formation of BaSO4. The total volume of solution should not exceed 100 cc. |
