Zusammenfassung:The effects of temperature and concentration on the neutral buffered potassium iodide method for oxidants monitor were studied. When room temperature increased by 1°C, the reading of the oxidants monitor decreased by 1%. This temperature effect was mainly caused by the vaporization of iodide disengaged by reaction of oxidants from the absorption reagent. This effect was severe in low concentration of potassium iodide. The gradient of the calibration curve for neutral buffered potassium iodide method depended on the concentration of potassium iodide. The reason for the concentration effect was that the profile of absorption spectra of I3-changed depending on the potassium iodide concentration. So if the neutral buffered potassium iodide for oxidants monitor is used, care must be taken on the operating temperature and concentration of potassium iodide.
