EFFECTS OF GLUCOCORTICOIDS ON THE RODENT HEPATOCELLULAR FRUCTOSE-1, 6-DIPHOSPHATASE ACTIVITY-LIGHT AND ELECTRON HISTOCHEMICAL STUDIES

Zusammenfassung:Effects of glucocorticoids (triamcinolone diacetate (TAG) and dexamethasone) on the hepatocellular fructose-1, 6-diphosphatase (FDPase) activity was investigated histochemically in some rodents. It was observed that glucocorticoids induced the hepatocellular FDPase and this induction was heterogenous in nature, indicating the functional heterogeneity among hepatic cells. This phenomenon was named as “TAC effect”. The TAG effect is not only enzyme specific, but also species specific.
