Zusammenfassung:This research note is focused on determining the financial situation of regions and municipalities receiving EU funds. Subsidies can hide later financial distress of a beneficiary. Financial support programmes funded by the EU are a contemporary issue in the Czech Republic, as well as in other European countries that entered the EU as part of the Eastern enlargement. European funds are very important because, for the period of 2007-2013, the Czech Republic has had EUR 26.69 billion available.
