Zusammenfassung: | In this study, the effects of cotton oil methyl ester usage on the exhaust emissions and engine performance of a direct injection (DI) diesel engine have been discussed. The engine was fueled with biodiesel-diesel blends and pure biodiesel when running the engine at six different engine speed (1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 1800, 2000 rpm) and at full load. The results confirmed that usually, smoke emission at low engine speed, specific fuel consumption and nitrogen oxides for B20 and ?100 increased compared to diesel fuel. Smoke emission at high engine speed, hydrocarbon carbon monoxide emissions and also engine power due to the fuel properties and combustion characteristics of biodiesel decreased.
