Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, Palliative and End of Life Care for Children and Young People: Home, Hospice, and Hospital by Anne Grinyer (2012). This book uniquely addresses both of these needs through the author’s comparative analysis of her two primary research investigations which include an exploration of the personal experiences of children and young people, their family members, and the health care professionals who care for them and also an evaluation of the palliative and end of life services they receive in the United Kingdom. The book is divided into six chapters which include an overview of palliative and end of life care; the unique aspects of home-based, hospice-based, and hospital-based locations of care; a primer for offering bereavement and emotional support; and implications for policy and practice. Professionals in both clinical and administrative roles of pediatric palliative care will benefit from the inclusion of both perspectives in this book.
