Dryland Riparian Ecosystems in the American Southwest: Sensitivity and Resilience to Climatic Extremes

With hydrology as the key factor regulating dryland riparian ecosystem condition, and with the coping strategies of plants and animals dependent on spatiotemporal hydrologic variability, the degree of river regulation and groundwater withdrawal will likely be key factors inuencing the adaptive capacity of these ecosystems to future climate change.
