Zusammenfassung: | Improved herd structure often leads to a more efficient use of resources than does increasing the number of animals. This paper highlights the role of adjusting stocking rates and herd structures for sustainable utilisation of grasslands in the production of animal protein and milk. The authors combine official data with data obtained by census survey of cattle farms stratified into traditional farms and improved farms. They report a series of simulation experiments using a demand-driven milk production model based on herd dynamics. |
