Probabilistic Scaling of Spatial Distance Judgments
A "probabilistic" multidimensional "scaling" model, PROSCAL, is described and evaluated for use with distance judgments among spatial stimuli. The model is compared with deterministic nonmetric models and is shown to do a superior job of estimating the coordinates of the stimuli....

Zusammenfassung: | A "probabilistic" multidimensional "scaling" model, PROSCAL, is described and evaluated for use with distance judgments among spatial stimuli. The model is compared with deterministic nonmetric models and is shown to do a superior job of estimating the coordinates of the stimuli. In addition, it also estimates the uncertainty that is associated with each stimulus. Evaluation of the model is by means of Monte Carlo and empirical experiments. |
