Zusammenfassung:This article describes the results of a December 1983 survey designed to investigate the relationship between Ontario Manufacturers' perceptions of various aspects of the Canadian and U.S. business environments and their decisions about where to locate plants or branches. The author argues that perceptions of the business environment in Canada as compared to that in the U.S. are influenced by whether or not manufacturers already have plants or branches in the U.S. The general conclusion of the article is that although decisions about where to locate are influenced by perceptions about where the markets are, such decisions are often made on the basis of the perception that the business environment in Canada is decidedly unattractive when compared to that in the U.S.
