Zusammenfassung:A key and diagnoses are given for the following species of Ptychadena: subpunctata, oxyrhynchus, superciliaris, obscura, mascareniensis, porosissima, grandisonae, upembae, uzungwensis, ansorgei, bunoderma, taenioscelis, chrysogaster guibei, keilingi, perplicata, mossambica, floweri and frontalis. P. anchietae and abyssinica are considered to be synonyms of superciliaris, and P. floweri and frontalis are provisionally treated as a single taxon.
