Zusammenfassung: | At the 1988 International Family Therapy Conference in Prague, I stood before hundreds of people from the East and from the West and began to speak about gender inequality. Afraid that my talk would be met by both the official denial of gender inequality in the East and the pat rationalizations in the West, I was stunned at the applause when I said, "There is one issue that cuts across all national boundaries, indeed, all boundaries of race, color and creed-that is the issue of gender which exists in every country in the world where there are families. It is impossible to talk about love, marriage, sex, intimacy, and childrearing without taking into account gender inequalities."
