Zusammenfassung:Aggregate schooling levels have risen greatly since the 1960s in Malaysia and the Philippines. This paper examines the extent to which the family background of individuals and education policies of the government together influence schooling levels. The results suggest that education policies in either country have significantly affected levels as well as the relative distribution of schooling among its demographic groups.
