Zusammenfassung: | This paper attempts to bring the corpus of Roman material found in Ireland up to date at the time of colloquium. Over a dozen recent and older poorly recorded finds of coins and other non-numismatic material are discussed, the most important being a further portion of the Ballinrees hoard. Some, such as the latter, can be added to the number of genuine Roman imports but others cannot but be discarded as being post-Roman arrivals. Caution is however urged against a too facile rejection of all finds of Samian sherds as spurious. |
