Selection of the glide systems activated at low stresses in copper

It has been established that the microdeformation of highly perfect f.c.c. metals does not always obey the Schmid law. An additional criterion is proposed and applied to the case of Cu. In this criterion it is considered that the energy of the emerging part of a surface source in the unstressed stat...

Zusammenfassung:It has been established that the microdeformation of highly perfect f.c.c. metals does not always obey the Schmid law. An additional criterion is proposed and applied to the case of Cu. In this criterion it is considered that the energy of the emerging part of a surface source in the unstressed state governs its configuration, and therefore its aptitude for glide.
