Zusammenfassung:Since 1976 a team of art historians, archaeologists and historians has been studying the former church of Saint-Pierre l'Estrier located on the outskirts of Autun. By combining the resources of these disciplines, it has been possible to begin to recover the history of one of the oldest Christian churches in Burgundy, and to assess its importance for local and regional history which can be traced to Roman times. This article is a preliminary report of findings which have already led to the designation of Saint-Pierre l'Estrier as a Historic Monument.
