Zusammenfassung:Patterns of variation in sexual dimorphism and size and shape of limb bones are established for seven terminal Late Archaic populations of Ohio. Results of the analyses show little differentiation among the Ohio populations. These populations are all characteristically tall, with significant sexual dimorphism, suggesting at least a degree of sexual division of labor. Patterns of shape variation in the limb bones indicate mechanical adaptations to high levels of physical activity. These features, except for the relatively large stature, are similar to those expressed by other eastern North American Late Archaic populations. Possible causes, both proximate and ultimate, for stature variation are discussed.
