Zusammenfassung: | The author, a leading social worker, was in 1898 on Governor Roosevelt's Tenement‐House Commission which drafted laws defining and extending the responsibilities of landlords in relation to prostitution in tenement houses. He was a member of the staff of the District Attorney of New York County and special counsel to the so‐colled “White Slave Grand Jury,” which returned 26 indictments followed by convictions of offenders against the laws penalizing commercialized vice. He has since been an active leader in the fight against the social evil. |
