Measuring integration effects: A survey

Since the early sixties quite a few attempts have been undertaken to establish ex post the impact of trade integration on the flows of trade. The methods used for this purpose, however, differ considerably and, moreover, the sources are widely scattered. For this reason the editors thought it useful to supplement the contributions in this issue by a short analytical survey of earlier studies in this field.
