Zusammenfassung:Because of the effects of unification, Berlin cannot be compared with other Western cities. Unemployment has increased, but there is no polarization of the labour market. However, trends show that it is the immigrants who may prove to be the new urban underclass, while East and West may remain as two different entities in terms of housing, infrastructure and economic development.
