A Note On Voter Registration and Turnout in Texas, 1960–1970

A recent suit against the State of Texas challenging the constitutionality of its existing voter registration law provided the stimulus for the collection and analysis of data concerning the relations between voter registration and turnout, on the one hand, and various types of registration laws and some standard background variables on the other hand. This note presents a condensed version of the findings that were made available to the court in that case.
