Zusammenfassung:Ordebly Inquiry can proceed productively only when the inquirers manage to agree on the meaning of their symbols. We think and communicate through symbols, and we must mutually understand which events and relationships and ideas the symbols used do and do not denote. More important, perhaps, symbols connote all sorts of values and emotions, positive and negative. If we use symbols carelessly we color our analysis of events and relationships and ideas with inappropriate values and emotions.
