Zusammenfassung: | The ART JOURNAL, a quarterly periodical published by the College Art Association of America, was launched in the Fall of 1941 bearing the title College Art Journal. This was shortened to the present title in 1960 with the purpose of encouraging a wider circulation outside the ranks of college art departments. Shortly after the founding of the Association (1912) The Art Bulletin was established (1913) and soon became a quarterly periodical devoted to scholarship in the history of art. With the rapid growth of college art departments after the Depression, numerous members of the Association, particularly in art departments away from the Atlantic seaboard, began to call for a periodical which could cater to the widening activities of college art teaching. |
