ChemInform Abstract: Practical and Scalable Synthesis of Ethyl (R)-Piperidine-3-acetate

Key feature of the novel synthesis of ethyl (R)‐piperidine‐3‐acetate is the hydrogenation of N‐benzylpyridinium chloride (I) to afford the racemic ethyl piperidinylacetate (II), which can be kinetically resolved by use of enantiopure mandelic acid.
