Sørensen grudgingly accepted an opera workshop invitation in England in 1998. He was ready to pack it in, yet completed the workshop and became hooked. Learning to work quickly and together with others was not wasteful, and did not ruin his integrity as a composer. In fact, ideas started coming faster than he could write them down. "Surviving" the workshop was the greatest inspiration he ever received. He has since believed that a workshop such as "d!sturbances" should be held in Denmark, which will include two of the most inspirational people at the opera workshop, Loré Lixenberg and Kenneth Tharp.
