Zusammenfassung:In the second half of the 19th century, the dance master or teacher played a string instrument, while his students danced. According to observations in historical documents, this string instrument was often a fiddle or small violin, either "Pochetten" or "Violino piccolos." The use of small violins did not began much earlier than the 19th century, however. The history of this style of instrument is traced from 1596 to the 19th century.
