The author spends the initial part of the book outlining the case for reform and convincingly argues that while our mental health system is better today than it might have been 30 years ago there is still tremendous need for improvement. One of the more controversial sections of the book is the discussion on eliminating monopolies in the mental health system. Readers who are interested in mental health policy will find that this book is well worth reading and that it will provide them with insight, inspiration, and information that will be helpful in their local efforts to transform their mental health system. The book is highly recommended to public administrators, advocates, and providers who are interested in mental health system transformation.
