Zusammenfassung:Reviews the book, The Oxford Handbook of Personnel Assessment and Selection edited by Neal Schmitt (see record 2012-08915-000). This book attempts to summarize the state of research and practice of what most people think as the traditional domain of industrial psychology. The authors are literally the who’s who of those who might represent the subdiscipline of I/O psychology. The reviewer stresses that anyone interested in the conceptual frameworks, methods used, and the state of research evidence relative to personnel assessment and selection will find what is needed or desired in this volume. Moreover, those persuaded by the need to promote evidence-based practice in society will indeed find a great deal of (empirical) evidence for the positions and the practices covered in these chapters. Consistent with the aspirations for the Oxford Handbook Library, this volume would be useful to a diverse audience, including graduate students, instructors, researchers, practitioners, or those involved in shaping or challenging public policy when it comes to personnel selection and assessment.
