Within a therapeutic drug class, acquisition costs many times take precedence over efficacy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate 24 hour blood pressure control and adverse effects in patients with essential hypertension when switched from Amlodipine (A) to Nisoldipine (N). Hypertensive patients stabilized on A 5 mg or 10 mg were monitored over 24 hours with an ambulatory blood pressure monitor (AMBP).
