F009: Insulin, tPA AND PAI-I levels and their correlations with cardiac risk and disease factors in the hypertensive cohort of the appropriate blood pressure control in diabetes trial-part 2 with valsartan (ABCD-2V)

ABCD-2V is a prospective, randomized trial comparing the effects of intensive versus moderate BP control on complications of type 2 diabetes using valsartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), as the primary antihypertensive agent. We report the insulin, tPA, and PAI-1 levels of the hypertensive...

Zusammenfassung:ABCD-2V is a prospective, randomized trial comparing the effects of intensive versus moderate BP control on complications of type 2 diabetes using valsartan, an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), as the primary antihypertensive agent. We report the insulin, tPA, and PAI-1 levels of the hypertensive cohort at baseline prior to valsartan therapy. Insulin, tPA and PAI-1 levels were above normal values. PAI-1 and tPA levels were inversely correlated with HDL levels (r=−0.242 and −0.195 respectively, p4 than scores 4 had longer duration of diabetes (16.8±7.2 yrs vs 14.5±7.0 yrs, p=0.019) than patients with scores
