Zusammenfassung:Whether antihypertensive therapy has similar effect in reducing eccentric versus concentric LVH has not been fully elucidated. We studied 201 hypertensive patients enrolled in the PRESERVE (Prospective Randomized Enalapril Study Evaluating Regression of Left Ventricular Enlargment) study with paired echocardiograms at baseline and year 1. To evaluate the impact of antihypertensive therapy on regression of LVH, we stratified patients according to LV geometric pattern (concentric = relative wall thickness (RWT) ≥0.43; eccentric = RWT 0.05).
