Dr. Napoli argues that with all of the information outlets currently available, focusing on source and content diversity is becoming less important than understanding the information that is actually consumed by media users. If audiences choose to focus their attention selectively on only a few sources that reflect their tastes and preferences, are policy interventions called for? Dr. Napoli discusses the kinds of research needed to begin to answer this question.
