Zusammenfassung: | Hospitality is a sequence of sociosymbolic actions that links the world of objects and the provisional persons who tend them (including women, servants, and children) to dramatic action.11 Phenomenological analysis calls us to unlock (not simply to analyze, but also to perform and reinvent) the affective labor, self-disclosing risks, and creaturely dependencies disclosed by hospitality events as they are themselves invited to appear in the local traffic patterns and transcendental convocations of Shakespearean drama.\n Although dietary laws defend against cannibalism or animality, stories of culinary excess might also be ways of working through the shame of menu dysfunction and the horror of slow death by seating plan. |
