Zusammenfassung:About 50% of all minor salivary gland tumours are malignant. The principle site for malignant tumours was the minor salivary gland (50.8%) followed by parotid gland (30.8%), sub-mandibular gland(15.4%) and the sub-lingual gland(3%). It is highly probable that proportion of malignant salivary tumour will increase further ,due to intense solar radiation over long period of time. Treatment of malignant salivary gland tumours with the addition of post-operative radiation therapy for patients with high risk factors has shown to reduce the incidence of local failure of treatment, and thereby preventing recurrence. The incidence of local recurrence was 14% for patients who received post-operative radiation therapy and 54% for who did not.
