Via deliberate and sincere discussion, reflection, and action, music educators have the means and a shared responsibility to shape and reshape the relationships that determine the social and cultural landscape. The things teachers say, their actions, the songs they choose, and the joyousness (or joylessness) with which they approach their work are key ingredients to the cultural understanding and significance of music in a child's life.
