Zusammenfassung: | Brazil occupies currently the position of sixth country with the most aging population, which requires efforts to understand the factors that can positively affect the elderly, such as the Subjective Well-Being (SWB). The SWB can be defined as satisfaction with life feeling, allied with positive affect experiences and relative absence of negative affect. In this sense, this article aims to approach the Subjective Well-being in elderly theme through a literature review, encompassing concept and perspectives of study, the main measuring instruments, in addition to list Brazilian studies about subjective well-being in elderly. Generally it was found high scores of positive affect and life satisfaction, as well as low levels of negative affect, suggesting that the elderly present high levels of subjective well-being. They also pointed out the connection between subjective well-being in elderly and their environment, social support, quality of life and physical activity. Finally, the complexity of elderly subjective well-being stands out, so as the need to seek a more holistic approach to promote well-being to the people of this age group, highlighting the need for biopsychosocial dimensions analysis looking for the comprehension of the subjective well-being in elderly.
