Neogene freshwater stromatolites of Vietnam

The considered structural-textural features of laminated and columnar-laminated types of the stromatolitic buildup reflect changes in the influx of terrigenous material into the lacustrine basin. Laminated stromatolites were growing under conditions of relatively decelerated sedimentation rates. The appearance of columnar stromatolites in the section is explained by increased sedimentation rates. The stages marked by the upward growth of columns are reflected in development of denticles with upward hooked ends at boundaries of vertically oriented carbonate plates with host sediments.
