Zusammenfassung: | TRANSGENDER GENERALLY refers to a population of individuals who do not conform to traditional Western notions of sex and gender. A study of transgender individuals in the United States found that approximately 60% had experienced some form of harassment and/or violence and 37% had experienced economic discrimination (Lombardi, Wilchins, Preisling, & Malouf, 2001). Further, transgender men and women will likely experience physical and mental health problems, both in accessing health care resources and in dealing with the results of stress.
